Are you looking for ways to find other moms, new friends, or playgroups for your little one? If so then see my list of resources below to assist with finding other moms or playgroups in our area.
Surprisingly, I have been approached many times by my readers and local moms with the question, how can I meet other moms and what is the best way to find new playgroups. Three years ago when my family and I moved to Northern Virginia and I was new to the area, I myself struggled with finding ways to make new friends and discover playgroups. So I decided I would do my research and provide an article for my readers listing a few resources available to assist with meeting other moms.
The first resource I discovered was MOMS Club, which is a support group for at-home moms that meets on a regular basis. Check with your local MOMS Club chapter to get more details and receive information about joining.
Additionally, you can also search for a local MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group. The MOPS website offers a search tool that allows you to find a group in your area based on your zip code. MOPS groups do require a membership, so check with your local group for membership details.
Third, I found Meetup to be very helpful at finding groups that meeting regularly for play dates. Simply sign up for Meetup or download the app to your phone, designate the search area of interest, and search the group category that applies, such as parent and family.
Finally, I would suggest checking with your local organizations, such as places of worship, PTAs, or neighborhoods or homeowner associations to see if they are aware of any groups that meet regularly for moms or families with children to socialize or interact. Getting involved in local organizations are great ways to meet new people and make friends.
